Looking at this you will notice the "BP Flower" in the upper right hand corner next to the greedy executive. Dollar signs are spilling out of the oil pump below him causing life to turn black. The mechanized monster surfacing through the wave represents the failed technology that brings us the black death better known as petroleum.  The title infers two things; that the oil executives should spill their guts and admit to wrongdoing and secondly as far as I am concerned those monsters have oil as their guts.</span> </p><p style="text-align: center; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal 'Heiti SC Light'; color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"><span style="font-family: 'Century Gothic'; font-size: 13px;"><br /></span></p> <div class="not-first-item graphic-container wide center"> <div class="graphic"> <div class="figure-content"><!-- sandvox.Facebook --> <div style="padding-top:10px; padding-bottom:10px;"> <iframe allowTransparency="true" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?height=65&amp;width=55&amp;layout=box_count&amp;action=like&amp;colorscheme=light" style="border:none; overflow:hidden;" width="55" height="65" class="graphic"></iframe> </div><!-- /sandvox.Facebook --> </div> </div> </div> </div> Sun, 07 Aug 2011 09:13:07 -0700 http://nathangibbsart.com/gallery_workbench_monologue/spill-your-guts---surf-art.html The Return - Surf Art http://nathangibbsart.com/gallery_workbench_monologue/the-return---surf-art.html <div class="article-summary"><p style="text-align: center; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal STHeiti;"><span style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-size: 13px;" class="Apple-style-span">2008 Mixed Media on Panel  24" x 24"</span> <span style="color: rgb(255, 33, 26); font-size: 13px;">SOLD</span> <span style="font-size: 13px;"><a href="http://fineartamerica.com/featured/the-return-nathan-paul-gibbs.html" target="_blank">BUY A PRINT</a></span> </p> <div class="first graphic-container wide center ImageElement"> <div class="graphic"> <div class="figure-content"><!-- sandvox.ImageElement --><img width="501" height="474" src="http://nathangibbsart.com/_Media/the_return_med.jpeg" alt="The Return" /><!-- /sandvox.ImageElement --></div> </div> </div> <div class="not-first-item graphic-container wide center"> <div class="graphic"> <div class="figure-content"><!-- sandvox.Facebook --> <div style="padding-top:10px; padding-bottom:10px;"> <iframe allowTransparency="true" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?height=65&amp;width=55&amp;layout=box_count&amp;action=like&amp;colorscheme=light" style="border:none; overflow:hidden;" width="55" height="65" class="graphic"></iframe> </div><!-- /sandvox.Facebook --> </div> </div> </div><p style="text-align: center; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal STHeiti; color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">When you return to what you know, sometimes there is resistance, difficulties, confusion, loss of interest. Sometimes those paths come around and lead back to the same place. Other paths you take never return you to where you started from, rather they lead you to another choice. Like the ocean, you can choose to return and surf it the same way again, or you can create a new path, one that leads you to new and exciting experiences. This is represented by the artist creating an autobiographical representation of his life leaving the North West to find a new path. </p><p style="text-align: center; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal STHeiti; color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"><br /></p> <div class="not-first-item graphic-container wide center"> <div class="graphic"> <div class="figure-content"><!-- sandvox.Facebook --> <div style="padding-top:10px; padding-bottom:10px;"> <iframe allowTransparency="true" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?height=65&amp;width=55&amp;layout=box_count&amp;action=like&amp;colorscheme=light" style="border:none; overflow:hidden;" width="55" height="65" class="graphic"></iframe> </div><!-- /sandvox.Facebook --> </div> </div> </div> </div> Tue, 12 Jan 2010 21:18:39 -0800 http://nathangibbsart.com/gallery_workbench_monologue/360nw_-_surf_art.html Complications - Surf Art http://nathangibbsart.com/gallery_workbench_monologue/complications_-_surf_art.html <div class="article-summary"><p style="text-align: center;">2008 Mixed Media on Panel 24" x 36" - <span style="color: rgb(255, 40, 41);">SOLD</span> - <a href="http://fineartamerica.com/featured/complications-nathan-paul-gibbs.html">BUY A PRINT</a> - Contact for Hi-Rez image.<br /> </p> <div class="first graphic-container wide center ImageElement"> <div class="graphic"> <div class="figure-content"><!-- sandvox.ImageElement --><a href="http://nathangibbsart.com/_Media/complicationsnn-4.jpeg" class="imageLink"><img width="490" height="321" src="http://nathangibbsart.com/_Media/complicationsnn_med.jpeg" alt="" /></a><!-- /sandvox.ImageElement --></div> </div> </div><p style="text-align: center; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal STHeiti; color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">Things can get complicated sometimes.
