Back in the days of exploration of the new world, captains of boats would decide to burn the masts of their ships in order to eliminate dissent and hopes of returning to home for the sailors. I took the opposite feeling from that for this painting. I am implying that when you find something you truly treasure after searching and searching, you may 'burn the masts' since you don't want to return. I used bright lively colors to try and convey that feeling of joy.

"There comes a day when all that we know will no longer exist. We will look around and wonder who was responsible? What were we thinking? How did this come to pass? The time for the Environmental Renaissance is now. I plan to record the downfall and transformation of our ecological society within my art. So shall we all."
